The path forward is dark,
There are no torches to guide us,
They have snuffed them out one by one,
The path forward is long,
It is twisted and arduous,
There is no way to know how further we must crawl,
And yet we must crawl,
Through the dark and wind and rain,
We must push forward,
Through terror and pain.
The path shall be lit again by those we hold close,
As the sun falls and the night grows cold,
Moonlight under our skin,
Fire in our bones,
The fight is ahead,
The shadows will circle,
The path will twist and turn,
It will crumble at times,
And yet in our darkest hour,
Our power grows,
Hope may burn and shatter,
But we will continue down our path,
The one that those before us ignited,
The one that they never strayed from,
The path on which they bleed and died for.
The path forward is dark,
It is unbending and relentless,
Uncertain and cruel,
But that cannot render us immobile,
Hand in hand we can walk this path together,
Side by side through the darkness.
